Man, those guys are nuts! It's amazing the amount of electrical power they harness and cram through a little motor in just a few seconds!

(every now and then I get the urge to build an electric car... then I come to my senses)

I really need one. Just a quick conversion on the Yaris would be perfect.

He's spouting non-sense about "Zero Pollution" since sixty percent of all electricity produced in the US is generated from coal fired power plants. Kind of like a person who "doesn't hurt animals" but eats meat that comes from slaughter houses. Denial ain't just a river in Egypt.

That being said I enjoyed his enthusiasm and technical bravado.

I've worked with 500HP electric motors. They're about six feet long, four feet across and weigh over 1000 pounds. Gotta wonder how he's getting 300HP from such small motors - they're probably not cheap. Neither were those Lithium batteries.

This application is where AWD would probably work well. A motor for each wheel, electronically controlled and traction adjusted. Instead of complicated mechanics you'd have the motors being electronically paced and controlled - it'd probably beat the pants off of the man's electric Datsun since you'd get better traction and stability in a linear direction than with a RWD electric vehicle.
