Tire: 2009 Yaris Sedan Base OR S Sedan
My used car 2009 Yaris Sedan need change to the all season tires, but I am not sure it's base trim or S sedan.
The side door label shows tire size: P185 60R15, but the owner manual shows 175 65R14. Current winter tires are P185 60R15. The base trim should use 175 65R14. no spoiler leather wheel Power everything no fog light Auto Trans CD/MP3 "NCP93L-BEPRKK" on the side door label. When I log Myclub Toyota and input the VIN, it show "2009 Toyota YARIS 4-DR 4A" Try some free VIN tools online, most of show base trim, one show S Sedan. So how to determine the trim for my car? (Sorry, maybe I need post to General section, not the Technical here, this is my 1st post in this forum.) Thanks |

sounds like you've got the base trim(same as me, but mine is an 07 sedan). i would enter the information for your trim level as 's' however to make sure you get the 15" wheel size instead of the 14"(which won't fit your current rims). do you plan on keeping the winters on their own set of rims and purchasing a set of all seasons with their own dedicated set of rims? if that's the case you can get whatever size tire you want.
to make things easy i would just get a set in the same size as your current. you'll probably have to designate as an 's' to get those sizes to show. hope that helps! |

It's a base but that doesn't matter one bit when it comes to the tires. Car doesn't really care if it's on 14s or 15s, 175s or 185s. Just go with the same size all seasons that you currently have for winters.

Thanks toad and WeeYari.
Did a lot of google searching, still confusing with the trim "Base" and "S" sedan and which trim my car is. I will keep the winter tires on their own set of rims(15'') and purchase the new all season tires and rims(14'' or 15''). |

Spec sheet for 2007 sedan. Not sure what, if anything changed with 2009. You may have to copy and zoom image to really read it. A bit fuzzy.
You definitely do not have the S, or what was packaged here in Canada as the Aero.

I might figure it out, my car is 2009 Sedan Base with Power package, NOT Sedan S. That's why the side label shows 185/15'' instead of 175/14" tires.
From http://www.autoblog.com/buy/2009-Toy...expert-review/ "Power Package ($1,790) includes AM/FM/CD with MP3 jack, 15-inch wheels, rear defroster, power windows/locks/mirrors, 60/40 slide/recline/fold flat multi-function rear seat. " |

The stock size for your sedan is 185/60-15. Only some hatchback trim levels were on 175/65-14. I ran Echo rims and winter boots in 175/65-14 with no issues (other than looking puny). If you will continue to use winter boots seasonally then I would suggest going with a summer performance tire for the warmer seasons. Braking, cornering and wet weather performance far exceeds the no-season tires. Cost and wear rate will be detrimental but if performance and safety are your goals the cost is worthwhile.
If you are determined to have no-seasons I can set you up. I just bought a sedan with all seasons and had winter tires installed in the deal. I have Yaris alloys with new performance tires in storage which will go on in the spring. The no-seasons will be archived for future install or sale. PM for details if interested. I just bagged them for storage today.

Should give the GENERAL Altimax RT43 H rated tire a look for 185/60-15 . Good reviews at most tire sites , BobIsTheOilGuy , and Consumer Reports . Can't go wrong for the money . $68.73 each at Wal-Mart . May want to wait until March to purchase them because GENERAL TIRE ( http://generaltire.com/ ) may have a $50 rebate . Click on promotions . So additional $12.50 off per tire . Good Luck

I have the continental cross contact touring tire in 185/60/15 they ride quiet and wear evenly. Of course I also work at discount tire/Americas tire so I get them fairly cheap. But they are a good all around tire

I just put on new tires and LOVE them! had gooyears on as OEM and they lasted 36000. Went to hankook optimo H727 and they did good the 1st 40000 but got very noisy after that, at 63000 on them I developed a seperated belt on one of them and while I did have maybe 10 to 15k left on the tread, I opted for 4 new. while I liked the hankooks, and they did good in rain and a low ok,(if there is such a thing) I ended up going with Pirelli P4 four season Plus for the new tires.Wholly crud! So much quieter, great in rain and so far they limited snow we've had, they were so much better. Amazing...
Now heres my deal, your results may vary. tirerack.com wanted 85.65 per tire plus shipping. Most places locally wanted 106.00 for them and 20-25 each for mount and balance. I found a place on line (tread depot.com) that sold them for 76.00 but wanted like 150.00 for shipping! screw that! I found I could get them at walmart by special order for 90. And they do the lifetime mount, balance and rotation for 9.00 per tire! I also read on line about price match but they only listed pep boys as a matcher on tires. When I went to the walmart I told him about the tread depot price and he said If I can show him a print out or on line price and it shows they have them in stock, then he'd match it. So I pulled it up and surer as heck, got them for 76.00 a piece. They brought them in and I love em. By the way, I have a 2010 sedan my self, and 185/60/15 is my size too.Oh yeah,95000 mile warranty . H rated tires get a lower tread wear warranty by 10K miles (65k vs 75K for T rated)
Dunno about you, but I really dont need a 130mph rated tire, hell, I dont think it will do it,do you? I'd settle for the 118 mph rating and get a longer warranty |
