Shocks upgrade???

I wonder?? Besides the expensive TRD shocks, is there any other option to upgrade OEM shocks when you're riding lowering springs? Tanabe DF's in my case.

Thanks for the info!

From what I've been told and seen, there isn't a thing. Later this year, there will be many options.

Aren't those all coil-over sets. I think Catrex is just looking for absorbers.

Tein only makes the Tein Basics for the yaris. Cant adjust stiffness, only the height. So their EDFC wont work on our car.. But its still not too bad.. the coilovers are already pretty stiff.. if ur looking for stiffness that is..

Its the TEIN servos that you attach to the strut tops to adjust dampening on the fly with the dash mounted controller.

How is your car with the TRD struts? I think I'm gonna run those springtechs like you instead of the Tanabe DFs.

Yes, I´m just thinking about the shock absorbers. I alredy have the tanabe DFs springs and don´t want to expend big bucks on coilover systems...

I'm putting them on this weekend. I'll let you know how they feel.

i have the trd shocks and tanabae df210 and think the ride is good. i still wish we would have a little stiffer spring set up, but if you want a good daily driver set up with a sporty feel this is the way to go

What do want to do with your car? There are a few diferent options in the market. Do you want a lower ride? a stiffer ride? I see no point in replacing the shocks and leaving the stock springs.

In my opinion you should start with the springs and then upgrade the shocks. Just by replacing the springs (even with OEM shocks) you will greatly improve the handling of your Yar.

This may be true but the tendancy of the suspension to "bottom-out" in bigger bumps is greatly increased. You can buy the complete TRD lowring kit from this guy for $330 plus shipping. This includes springs. You should definitley do both upgrades at the same time unless you want to do double the work installing or paying to have installed, springs and then absorbers. Of course this is IMHO. You can probably get Ken at TRD Sparks to match the price...

$330 is just for the shocks at that site, if I'm reading it right.

My apologies. I swear they were advertising the combo for $330 just last week.

Either way, I still stand by my statement. When considering just the lowering springs, think about those weak little stockie shocks. The dampening just isn't agressive enough to handle the decreased suspension travel. There should be some other stand alone absorbers on the market soon. Hopefully the prices will come down.
