http://www.yokohamatire.com/tires/detail/avid_ascend . Considering these for the '11 Fit which are 175/65-15 same size as the 2012 Yaris . They're also available for the '07 > '11 Yaris . Review of them at About.com , http://tires.about.com/od/Tire_Revie...vid-Ascend.htm . Here is what a few others are experiencing with them , http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii-...nt-review.html and http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums...2564841&page=2 ( bottom page 2 ) . Can get these for $120 each . Price includes mounting , balancing , and free rotation for life of tires .

I list the 175/65r15 for $105 ea through ford. This is for article # 32330. These tires are supposed to be pretty good, but I haven't put any on yet, so no firsthand knowledge. I wouldn't think they would be hard to find in the $95 range

no 14" sizes. oh well, i'll have to see if any of the other eco tires have 14' sizes. has anyone seen any reports that these types of tires really help gas mileage?

Interesting that they have a V rated version for what they are.

Tread starts at 12/32s . Think it's a 5year / 85,000 mile warranty and is T rated .

I haven't sold or installed any ascends yet, but the TRZ has always been a fantastic tire (especially for the price point). The touring-s is a decent fitment on our little cars, but I stay away from it on anything much larger. The sidewalls seem a wee bit "soft" and we see iffy wear on heavier vehicles; the softness can also be felt around corners as the tire "rolls." That being said, the TRZ and Touring-s I have sold 1.56 billion of (estimated ![]() As we see the ascend be more common I will comment about their construction, etc. but I assume that, being a Yokohama, they will be pretty good. |

A lot of manufacturers are moving this direction. Many newer cars (even small ones!) are designed with higher speed rated tires when they setup the suspension. The speed rating is not just an indication of the sustained speed a tire can handle, it also represents the relative stiffness of that tire. The tires actually act as an additional spring in the suspension, so engineers have to design the suspension with a certain stiffness of tire in mind. If you go get a new 4 cyl camry (SPEED DEMON!
![]() a) wear the tires very poorly and b) seem very soft and squishy, including response around corners. Its like the first time you put soft winter rubber on your car instead of fancy summer tires. |

i've had both the trz and touring-s on our yarii and liked them both, however, the trz had an abnormally large center channel that would get rocks stuck in all the time. it drove me nuts hearing the little 'clicks' at low speeds constantly!

Ive been curious about these tires as well. Ill be needing tires aoon and cannot decide to stay stock or go up to 16s...
Ive been eyeing up the toyo extensa...great price and seems to have a decent blend performance and rolling resistance

We noticed the TOYO Versado Eco tires as well . http://toyotires.com/tire/pattern/ve...l-season-tires . The 175/65-15 start at 9/32s . All others begin with 10/32s .

Depending on the treadwear, it really doesn't matter how much tread you start with. Kind of like bragging about having a bigger gas tank but getting less MPG's. :)
And I can get you those Yokohama Avid Ascend's for MUCH cheaper than $120 each. |

The Ascends are $93 each before tax . The $120 each includes mount and balance of each tire . Been calling around and the $93 is the best thus far . One quoted $118 , not including the mount / balance . Leaning towards the Bridgestone Ecopia 422 at $81 each and a $70 American Express card from Bridgestone that would cover the mount and balance of 4 tires . This offer expires 4/29/12 .

Ah didn't realize you were including mount/balance, was going to say - at $120 each for Ascends you're paying well over retail for those.
I think the Ecopia's are a great deal - especially with the $70 gift card that Bridgestone is offering. That's also a great price at $81 each - actually beats my wholesale price directly from Bridgestone themselves. (I'm at $91.50 each retail on that tire.) Will have to call them about that. :) |
