Turbo from Starlet on Yaris?
Hi,
How feasable would it be to get the turbo kit from a Starlet to work on the Yaris? Considering it's something like the one on the picture, what else would be requiered to get it to work besides the plumbing and adapting the header? Am I missing something obvious that would make this a no-no? http://img518.imageshack.us/img518/1420/dsc01198yh1.jpg thx |

You see all those pipes and bends? Maybe you would have to refabricate them for the Yaris. Maybe the turbo would fit and work. I don't really know. But that's IMO.

I have to say that a lot of guys here in Greec made this engone swap.Of course, I am talking about the old Yaris.
Anyway, it will be extremely difficult to make the electronics work together!

why not just purchase an aftermarket kit rather than worry about the headaches of making something work... it will probably end up costing you the same or more depending on how lucky you get..

I think there is an HKS kit for the 1.5lt engine.

Just don't do it.HKS has a kit that produces 170-180hp with some tuning.

for the greddy xb turbo, I believe you'll need a custom exhuast manifold..
try the greddy s/c? |

There are several places that sell the greddy scion Xb turbo kit for $1000+. Closer to $1800-2000, but then that wasn't the point of the thread. You can find some of those places on froogle.

When it comes to FI, it's real hit and miss... the guys at Toyota Canada have been trying to figure out how to work out the TTE blower forever... all they have are blown engines which prove that you may want to look at alternatives to FI for this engine. Lastly, you can do a lot for a little, but just remember that once you start moding.. it's a vicious cycle.... so just because you're saving now, doesn't mean that by the time you either move on to another car, or blow this one up, that you wouldn't have put in $10g's... it all adds up in the end. |

You should get a 1.8 Celica GT-S motor and swap it in. Here in P.R. there's a liftback woth the swap and it works fine.....allmotor = less
