What is the most reliable and easy to work on Yaris?
I’m going to buy a Yaris in the near future. I used to have a Toyota Echo and loved it. Wonderful car. I’m looking at 2007 to 2011 or so with automatic transmissions. Which year do u think is the best to get. Thank you

They're pretty much mechanically identical from 2006-2019(2007-2018 for USA). I prefer the 2012+ hatchbacks, nicer interiors and I prefer the less bubbly looks.

Best to get 2007-2008 IMO in Canada, lot more of them on the road so most likely to find body parts for them at the scrap yard. Mechanical parts are pretty much identical as stated above from 2006-2019. I like the extra storage of the 2nd gen vs the 3rd where they loose the extra glovebox and moved the cluster to driver side. 2008 will give you the transmission position in the cluster vs not available in 2007. I would also look for one with a white colored cluster vs an orange one, much better look and easier on the eyes.
I have a 2007 and my bro got himself a 2008. Ideally a 2011 with low miles would last you the longest vs a 2007 with higher miles, but low miles 2007-2008 can still be found, be patient and it's worth spending a little more on a low miles car as you'll have less wear on the powertrain and the hubs/transmission. |

I had a 2001 echo just a fantastic car! Any of the Yaris cars Will be reliable equally. I would prefer a manual transmission, The automatics will do equally as well.

I have a 2015 Yaris LE Hatchback. I am happy with it. Putting on a rear stabilizer/ swaybar is a must!
