Gas :P
Hello, for awhile i was using the cheapest gas out there to save a few cents/dollars when filling up the Yaris. Well i switched to using Sunoco and i have found that my MPG has increased a lot. Is there a reason for this? Am i doing any harm by using cheaper gas vs sunocos?

i believe using a major brand fuel is better. around here i get better mileage with conoco-phillips fuel we dont have sunoco. i used to haul fuel and some stations get different fuel each week depending on price so its always changing so your car has to adapt every tank. a few cents cheaper per gallon will cost you in mileage.just my opinion.

I've had two friends get "bad gas" from arco. One was a ford F150, one was a nissan 240. Both had horribly rough idling and acceleration after filling up at arco. They both flushed the gas and the cars were fine, but still...

If you get the cheap brand gas it can sometimes consist of the leftover fuel from other stations. Basically, the bottom of the truck, were all the sludge and sediment build up, that stuff gets sent to the cheap-o stations.
I tend to go for any name brand gas really.

I like shell gas.
The thing is, you can go to a shell station with an old tank with water in it, too. So I like to go to gas stations that are newer than older. I'll pay more for a station that was built or renovated in the past couple years than the cheaper station that's 30 years old and a bit run down. |

went up $2.39 to $2.59 today and only a few weeks ago it was around $2.05. WTF AGAIN?!?!
Anyways... yeah I use major brand gas too. Mostly BP Amaco or Shell gas stations. With cheaper gas I think my fuel seems to run out a lot quicker... but i dunno if it's just in my head.

Has anything happened with crude oil? How is gas jumping up 50 cents in a matter of a week or two? Other than the common greed of oil companies.

I guess the only upside of gas going up in the summer and not the winter is that I can ride my motorcycle to save some more money. 60+mpg of the bike > 40mpg from the yaris. Another reason I wish I lived in the south or out west :(

I go for the main brands per say but I dunno if they are nationwide brands??
main ones I use: wilco/hess sheetz (favorite, especially now since you dont have to pre-pay :p ) shell but sometimes I go for texaco who uses techron fuel injector cleaner, when its the same price as normal gas :D
