Subwoofers and rattlers!?
i saw this video on youtube. and now i'm worried about my yaris making a gawd awful rattling noise if i put in the system i was looking at. has anyone else experienced a problem with their car rattling apart after installing an aftermarket stereo system? and is it bad for my car if it does rattle alot?

A bulk kit is around 300. That covered most of my trunk and all four doors on my sedan. So it should be more than you need for the lb. You just use it where rattles may happen.

rattling sounds really bad, yes dynamat is the key to eliminate the rattling sounds....
you just have to know where to put it....

Yeah. The stuff is heavy too. So use only where needed. Without lightness these cars don't have much. :p

ok, first off, the video is of an spl set-up, he has his base turned way up... for everyday driving/listening you wouldn't have it turned up this high, he's also using a base cd/song....
the steel used in the yaris is extremely thin!!! I dynomated my trunk using the extreme kit (bought off ebay for $150 ), it wasn't enough for the complete trunk... I also have my sub firing toward the taillights, and my trunk lid, flexs, NO rattles , BUT my taillights are buzzing/rattling, and my license plate is vibrating... weights added to car: Subwoofer: Alpine SWX-1243D HEAVY Sub amp: Alpine PDX 1.1000 3.4Kg Amp: Alpine PDX 1.100 3.11Kg Subbox: 42 LBS Dynomat: Extreme 22 LBS kinetik battery: HC800 26 LBS.

i've always noticed people not securing the 2 bottom screws on thier license plates and they have a subwoofer pumping. wtf?
even 150 for dynamat, damn! i was hoping like 30 bucks. im just about to install my 10 inch-400rms, i normally dont put it up that high but i hope i wont need any of that expensive mat. |

LOL damn!
well you have really 2 choices. one.... buy dynamat sound deadener two...sell the subs LOL you could even try putting those Rubber Foam inside the fender and doors. I know that they sell a spray type rubber foam (it expands). no idea where you get them, but they do sell them in Philipine (my mechanic told me). LOL |

that was spkrmans car, he is no longer a member on this forum. he is flexing like that because of how he mounted his subs. he is firing them toward the cabin, which is a bad life choice, thus all the flexing. the best way to mount them in a hatch is facing upward, you can get up to +4db just by pointing them up, and more spl, the glass in the hatch acting as a bandpass. that spray you speak of is made by rockford fosgate.

I thought this thread was concerning thumping venomous reptiles commonly found in the desert.

So where's the cheapest place to get this sound deadener?
Also, are the off-brands as good as Dynamat brand? |
