What color Tacoma?
Hi guys as some of you may know, I decided to buy a Toyota Tacoma 2011.
Now I got the SR5 package 4x4 so now I need to choose a color. These are the available colors. Post why the specific colors and what makes it better compared to the others. Thank you Alpine White Barcelona Red Metallic Black Magnetic Grey Metallic Pyrite Mica - Exclusive SR5 Color Silver Streak Mica Speedway Blue - Exclusive SR5 Color Some items that will be on the truck that arent in the photo if it helps you imagine better. Disclaimer: All I know is Darker colors scratch EASIER, there is about 6 ft of snow MAX here 7 or 6 months of the year. And yes I will, still be coming here I am not getting rid of the Yaris. Thanks friends. You can pick more than one option in the poll but try to pick one TWO max if it really bugs you. My dad likes white for its lifelong lasting color. My girlfriend likes the Dark Metallic Grey (Scared it will show scratches etc like black is my worry). And I like blue because its exclusive, even the Pyrite Mica but mostly because they are exclusive, blue worries me due to probably looking stupid with a hood reflector.

I say any color but silver or the metallic gray. I see them everywhere, every day, to the point that when one of my buddies drives us to the ski area we have just as much chance of trying to get into the wrong truck as the right one because they all look alike.

We have a white 1991 astro van in the driveway, a white 2005 toyota echo, and a silver Yaris.
I'm trying to dodge those colors aswell just to get some variety, the dark onyx like silver is nice but how bad will it show scratches?

I had Toyota trucks since I was 16, almost every single model. The best one was a xtra-cab 97 Black (don't do black, hard to keep it clean) and I love the new double cab long bed. Can't go wrong with a Tacoma! D.

Congratulations Kevin!
Sounds like your Dad is a very understanding fellow. White is hard to keep clean but is cooler in the summer. Black is badass, hard to keep clean, and very hot in the summer. Red is fast, fades fast, and attracts the popo. Gold (pyrite) is "rich" and hides the dirt a long time. Go with what you like. |

Yes he is, aslong as I don't spoil myself and actually work to pay for it hes fine.
I like all the colors, which is why I made this thread. I love blue it's my favorite color but the toyota blue is like a baby blue and it drives me crazy. It would also look pretty awkward with all the black. Leaning towards white or pyrite maybe atm. edit: Does anyone know if it is difficult to drive a truck? I've never had one and am slightly intimidated about it.

Love them Tacomas. I used to lease a 2 wheel drive dark green regular cab late 90's Tacoma. Loved that dark green color. I wish I have the money to buy a 4 wheel drive crew cab or extended cab Tacoma. But why did they get rid of the dark green? So sad.

Glad that you are getting the truck you want. I had a 88 SR5 truck cream color. After 16 years it looked yellow. The mods for these trucks are endless. Lift kits, lights, roll bars, running boards, winch, bumpers, etc. I prefer the lighter colors. Keep in mind that you could probably own a Yaris HB and sedan for the cost of the Tacoma

How about taking it for a test drive and finding out for yourself before you buy it? That'd make more sense... And if you can't make up your mind on the color, I choose red. |

We had a Magnetic Grey Metallic Passat and it always looked great, clean or dirty. Silver is the same way, our Odyssey is silver and it always looks good even when it's dirty. I love my black Yaris and think it looks sharp, but it really shows the dirt and any scratches. I would have preferred a Magnetic Grey Metallic but it wasn't offered. That's too bad as I think it would have looked excellent! And, it never hurts to go with your girlfriend's suggestion, especially when she's right! Cheers! M2

Green was taken out due to its low demand amazingly, but it was great Pyrite is more it's color now.
And I did take the manual 4x4 for a test drive they let me take it in their mud pit aswell, but you can determine dd in driving 3 minutes man. And sprocket, how does the greymetallic look in scratches? Do they show? I'm in between grey metallic and white atm Was thinkin of getting a black bull bar if I got white, and a chrome if I got grey. Btw the tacomas about 1000$ monthly if your financing (Gas, Insurance, Payments) Yaris is like 500 or so for everything.

i used to own a '99 tacoma prerunner in some sort of purplish color(not sure what the factory name for it was, but i really liked it). loved that truck! had to sell it because we had a baby and it only was a two-seater(standard cab, not even crew). i liked being up above most other vehicles and not having 4 wheel drive was never an issue - even in midwest winters. i miss being able to drive fast on dirt/gravel roads and not ever worrying about potholes. i might pick one up again if i can find a used one cheap and in decent shape.
oh, and i like the light silver color best even though it's the most popular! Last edited by toad; 11-07-2010 at 12:02 PM. Reason: forgot to vote |

Thanks for all the opinions so far, appreciate it it seems on the poll Dark metallic Grey is ahead, I'm leaning towards white trying to find a photo of what I am aiming for.

dude blue is awesome, and kinda unique. Oh, and drive it. You are going to buy one, make sure the salesman knows that. You should go on a long test drive, driving a truck is an incredibly different experience. If you need to go to different dealers just to test drive different trucks, do it. Don't be shy, you are going to spend a ton of money, drive as many as you want, and as long as you want.
Make 100% sure you want it, and you can deal with how they drive. One of the company's I ran had a Tacoma pre-runner. The thing handled worse than the Conversion Van i drove around for a while. If you are going to buy a car, they will let you drive it. And blue is awesome, and your fave color, mine as well, and you don't see many of them around. Once you settle onto one specific truck, drive it for at least half an hour or more.

Dealerships wont let you drive a truck with a learners permit will they? And yeah I bought my car off the same Salesman, Peter Madison is the bomb up here.
