SHORT SHIFTERS???

Once again this may already be posted, if so let me know and i'll F Off. Does anyone have a hell of a time with 3rd gear. I get a grinding niose unless the shift is mint. Also are these ALUMINUM bushing kits worth it? Thanx

how many miles you have on the yaris? i had to put almost 6k miles before i stopped noticing hesitation when going into third gear. it was annoying but the problem has cured itself over time.

go to dealer. Of all the gears usually third is strong. Maybe a sync error!!

yeah i'm going to get the dealership to work it out
i have 22,000km on it this is b.s. I ordered a SS just for kicks i don't think that it will solve my 3rd grinding problem. See it's not all the time either. My yaris will chirp the tires in 1st and 2nd and then i got to punch 3rd at about 5000 rpm and if she isn't mint i get KRucggggggggg! for a spilt second. it still goes into gear fine and the pedals to the floor. It's just an alarming sound from a 2007 toyota.

Sounds like you're aggressively caning your car, maybe the gearbox has got a bent shift fork.

never had any problems with 3rd on my car, however, putting it in reverse there is a lovely "pop" that has been there since i got the car new last year. problems like the grinding or popping are related to the synchros(as far as i know) and i doubt a short throw shifter will solve the problem.

no like i said i know a cable actuated shifter has nothing todo with the niose. I streched a cable in a 89 tercel with a 94 paseo motor swap i did a while back. But all my forward shifts 1, 3, 5 ground. Talk about sleeper car tho. Whole swap cost 1200 bucks and 2 weekends. But back to SS my old boss bought the TRD one from my old dealership and he says it's ok. Paid way too much tho. A guy i know in my building has the TWM one advertised on this site and his feels great. It's the Bushing kit. The bushings along are what makes the shift so crisp. The handle is just shorter.

Well i installed THE TWM SHORT SHIFTER and Wow! it actually works. the aluminum bushings for just replacing the shifter mounts do make a difference. I drove it with just the SS and then with the bushings and it's noticable. TRD quick shifter is B.S. i hated it. it was like installing a shifter gate. did nothing but agrivate me. Now NST has got one coming out i'm might get it too and try it it out. But for $160 shipped over night from QC you cant be the TWM.
