Micro Image Intake Manifold thread
We got our prototype installed last night. Overall: SUCCESS.
There were some issues with hose lengths, and we were unable to use the stock airbox, because the throttle body was moved to the driver side by a couple of inches. I'll post pics of the install with more detail next, but here's a shot of the intake (keep in mind it's an unfinished prototype)

Wow just the look of this thing gets me excited lol
Also curious if it is being tested on N/A or F/I. And I am sure we will be getting a dyno as well... |

This was installed on a bone stock Yaris. Only way to do a fair test. I wanted to use the stock airbox, but it wasn't possible, so we made up a little short ram -- this will be used for both dyno runs, so it won't make a difference in results.
Car was driven about 70+ miles last night, and will be used for daily commuting this week. No CEL's yet, ECU still in "relearn" of course. pics up next

You'll see that we re-used the stock rubber intake hose, a short MAF tube and an air filter for our 'short ram' intake. It's a little mickey mouse, but it works and we used the parts we had on hand.
Some vac hoses had to be lengthened, this could be fixed by changing the location of the fitting on the mani, or we can include a replacement hose kit. Too soon to work on that. The runners are just about as long as they can be without touching anything. Had to work the mani down in there carefully. **The mani is made for a 1ZZ throttle body; note that we installed the stock throttle body, we'll see how that works out. I figure not everyone wants to pop for a different throttle body if they don't have to. So more testing there is probable. AWAITING THE VICTIM'S CAR STOCK APART IN PLACE INSTALLED

Even eyeballing I can see Garm's runner length as being way longer plus he has Velocity stacks in the plenum where its clear yours doesn't and his runnings are a much smoother path. Last edited by xnamerxx; 08-28-2012 at 07:16 PM. |

in the end, does it really matter who GE works with?
If somebody builds an intake, somebody will probably buy it. |
