So this exists! (Aux/USB jack for aftermarket stereos)

I'm about to install a Pioneer head unit and wondered where to put the USB port and the aux in jack without making it look a spastic with a hacksaw was at work there.

That seems like a lot of work. I'm thinking about that little rubber apron between the steering column and the driver side glovebox, or one of those rectangular holes near the parking brake.

nah takes a few min. route the cable towards teh pillar (take out the glove box and gently unclip the a pillar, but dont remove the apillar), take out one visor and your map light (both you pull out) and the headliner just falls down. All this is done in literally 2 min.

If you plan on buying the adapter jack from this thread to use in a Yaris, you'll also need a USB extension cable and a male to female 3.5mm cable, because they ones up there are way too short even to reach in a straight line, much less routed through the console and hidden out of sight.

Do you have a second cigarette lighter in your car on the passenger side?

If not that might be one of the best places to put it since it's close to the head unit and you won't need any extensions.

You can then plug in your phone and leave it in the storage area underneath the climate controls.

If your headunit does not have a rear USB input (like mine ) you can still use the USB connection to charge your phone/GPS/other device with a voltage regulator unit like this:

I ordered one to use in my car. Now I just need to figure out which wires to tap into.

Well if you just wanna charge your phone/GPS/other device, you can just use the cigarette lighter socket.

Just the one, and I've popped out the factory aux-in adapter next to the parking brake and replaced it with the one from Sonic Electronix. Cleaner look.

Either way, I've since ripped everything back out and moved the entire collection into my new car.
