TRD sway bar and tire wear - Toyota Yaris Forums

I know it's been covered alot here before, but I just ordered a TRD sway bar from sparks, now I have already decided to get the sway bar installed by a shop, I'm not the type to install anything myself, just afraid of messing up things. This was a treat for myself I just paid off my John Deere Tractor loan, so I wanted to get something that I've wanted for a while.

Just curious: By having the rear sway bar will it wear out tires quicker?

it will when you realize how much better your car handles and you start taking turns faster lol

The factory tires have a treadwear of 160. They are going to wear out insanely fast no matter what you do. Just plan on purchasing a new set of tires within the next year.

I'm planning on doing that soon, I'm either getting Pirelli P4's or a Falken model tire. Or if any one else has a better idea.

I'd pass on the P4's. Which size tyre would you like to run, and do you want/need an all season?

I guess the same size, I'm not sure how that works on the tire size. And yeah I need all season for sure.

You're running 15" Maxxims. Do you know the offset on those wheels? And, do you still plan to lower with TRD's? Then, I could recommend several tyre size options.

Gezzz. If you can operate a tractor you can put the four bolts in place for the TRD swaybar. I did it after work while wifey cooked dinner. 20 minutes in the driveway included scrounging up the tools and the after job tidy-up.
It's a NO-BRAINER. A shop with hoist should compete the job in under 10 minutes.

I don't know what the offset is on the rims, how do you tell (sorry). Just planning for now to go with the sway bar and new tires for now maybe I'll add to it later.

Okay. They're 15x6.5, ET40. You can run 205/55/15's with stock suspension. I'd probably go with Falken 912's.

I'd get the Yokohama Advan Neovas. Pretty sticky tire, perfect for trackdays, canyon carving and unbelievable in the wet. It's a popular rally-x tire here where we run on mixed surfaces (dirt, loose rocks, tarmac / cement /asphalt and some grass in one event). AFAIK treadwear is also about 140-160. The Neova AD07 is the current model but the AD08 is coming out in the US in May 09' I believe.

Great tyre, but certainly NOT the tyre the OP is looking for here.

yea especially since a falken ziex tire is like half the price (but doesnt perform nearly as well)

I have Falken Ziex 912's and they're an amazing DD tire for the price. They wear VERY slowly.

I having a hard time finding this tire at any of the tire shops were I live, I even checked tire rack. What national tire shops or internent tire places have them and at a good price. I quess I'm not looking in the right places.

I have decided on the Falken Ziex 912's that will fit my car.

Getting TRD sway bar tomorrow, will get installed when get new tires.

what size do you have?

I have on my civic 195/60r15

I've heard that the 912 is the 512 replacements...I have them on my civic and I had the 512's on as well... I ditched the 512's as the compound hardened for some reason over time.... hope this won't happen to the 912's....
