Aftermarket muffler.
After doing some reading on aftermarket mufflers, I have been tossed into a world of confusion. I'm not a fan of the cannon-style mufflers, and would like something that is quiet without the use of a silencer.
I am aware that there are many choices: HKS Hi-Power Greddy Ti-C JDM TRD Vitz muffler TRD's *new replacement* muffler (the one being sold now, as opposed to the one above it) Tanabe Concept-G Tanabe Medalion Blitz Nur Spec S and a few that a vendor on here sells on his site, I believe they were produced by a company called, Nitto. I would just like a nice and simple aftermarket muffler that isn't too flashy. Reason for this is because I would just like to "mod" my car. |

if you just want to have it to have it, save your money and get a shiney chrome tip.. keep your nice quiet yaris and get a little "looks"
no aftermarket exhaust is going to be as quiet as stock. |

I understand that there are no quiet aftermarket muffers, but I would like to know which one is most quiet.
I don't like chrome add-on tips because they look cheesy. On top of that, I feel the need to be a teenager again and do something to my car. |

Well judging by some reading I've done on this forum, the intake would only make the car sound a bit more aggressive while including some gains?
I have a Secret Weapon intake, which I've had for some time now. After doing some reading, I have come to realize that the "award winning dual tube velocity design" does nothing for our cars. After I get a muffler, I'll slap it on and see if my car gets any louder, if not, I'll keep it on. |

Whoa! You lost me there pal! Let's stick with bolt-ons, please =D
While the TRD muffler looks like more of a glorified stock muffler with a tip... It does claim to have more of a free-flowing, throaty tone... I suppose the stock appearance of the muffler would help me stay clear of the 5-0. |

Stock is good too. It sounds like the Yaris commercials when you drive off. Nice and cutesy.

I have the Megan Racing exhaust and IMO its deeper than the rest that I've heard. Barely noticeable at when cruising with light throttle.

I just went from a stock exhaust with a muffler tip, to the Tanabe Medalion Touring exhaust. I switched two weeks ago. The "loudnesss" test has been verified because my wife hasn't noticed a change. If it was louder she'd think something was wrong, ask me about it, then I'd have to break the news that I spent $340 delivered on a new exhaust when the one that was on it was "perfectly good", as she would state it. It has a deeper tone than the stock with tip, but really, it's not much louder at all. Really compliments my AFE intake !! I'm happy and it looks killer !!

I had a custom axleback made, It looks stock, and it slightly louder, than stock. No droning and no attention from the cops. It cost less than half of the cheapest bolt on axleback available. The muffler itself is around $30, and whatever the muffler shop charges to weld it on, You can get a fancy tip if you want a little flash.

We have the Tanabe Medallion Touring on ours, but you might find that a bit louder than stock.
