Exclamation Very Important Question about Sound System Upgrade.

Hi all, I am thinking of upgrading my sound system with Infinity or Pioneer speakers, but I do not want to change the head unit. Simply because I love the way it looks (I have the silver one from Toyota, that looks real nice).

1. I was wondering if I can get decent sound thru it or not?

2. What if I install a 5 ch. sub to go with this?

3. Will the factory system have outputs for this 5ch. amp in the back? Don''t think so!

4. How do I wire a sub without replacing the headunit? (this is a stupid one I know cause if I remember right, the amp will separate the bass signal).

I really don't want to re-wire the whole thing or change the head unit, but if the quality is going to be like what it is standard equipment, then I may have no choice.

I have wired and Mom's Mercedes with two subs and a 8 speakers on two subs and two batts with a bigger alternator. And my Honda Prelude ages ago... So I am kinda experienced. Just wanted some opinion.

What do you guys recommend?

1. I used some aftermarket alpine speakers off the stock head unit for a few weeks, and it sounded distinctly better than the stock speakers. You'll just be maxing out the volume to get loud, as most aftermarket speakers require a bit more power to be loud. But sound quality way, way better.

Then I added a 5 channel amplifier, and it was like my music was born again, Elvis back in the house, Eminem stood up, rock concert front row etc.

3. No.

4. line out converter, and cut into the wires from one of the other speakers, like, hook up the amp/line out converter to one of the rear speaker wires where it runs through the front door sills or just behind the seat belt covers, or for simplicity, at the rear speaker terminals.

Note: I'm mostly a n00b, but did a first-time install in the Yaris without anything catching on fire.

Hey, Thanks buddy. I thought the exact same thing. Did some researh and found PAC 2-ch converters. Anyways, I am not spposed to CUT the wires to the rear speakers, right? just jumper off them (like parallel connection) to the RCA converter, right? Or I loose the rear speakers. I want a sub and also all the speakers working.

Sound deadening first, replace the front speakers and seal up the front doors entirely, and drop 20-30lbs of sound deadener/dampener on the doors and floorboards. Eliminate outside noise first, before you invest elsewhere.

BLUE CAPS ARE MINE

Hi all, I am thinking of upgrading my sound system with Infinity or Pioneer speakers, but I do not want to change the head unit. Simply because I love the way it looks (I have the silver one from Toyota, that looks real nice). AGREE

1. I was wondering if I can get decent sound thru it or not? SAME OR LITTLE BETTER

2. What if I install a 5 ch. sub to go with this? MUCH BETTER, YOU'LL NEED A LOC OR AN AMP WITH PROPER INPUT SPEAKER LEVELS.

3. Will the factory system have outputs for this 5ch. amp in the back? Don''t think so! NO!

4. How do I wire a sub without replacing the headunit? (this is a stupid one I know cause if I remember right, the amp will separate the bass signal). NEED A LOC

I really don't want to re-wire the whole thing or change the head unit, but if the quality is going to be like what it is standard equipment, then I may have no choice. THAT'S WHAT I'M DOING

I have wired and Mom's Mercedes with two subs and a 8 speakers on two subs and two batts with a bigger alternator. And my Honda Prelude ages ago... So I am kinda experienced. Just wanted some opinion. YOU HAVE MORE EXPERIENCE THAN MOST OF US, I DON'T SEE YOU'LL HAVE A PROBLEM.

What do you guys recommend? YES DEADENING WOULD HELP, BUT IF YOU WANT A SIMPLE SOLUTION DO THIS: "LINK"
