500,000 miles on my Yaris.
So I finally hit 500,000 miles on my Yaris on Sunday 26th May @ 9.24pm. The car still runs perfect. Absolutely no issues with it whatsoever except with my clutch. I change out my original clutch after 400,000 miles and installed an ACT 4 puck ceramic disc with a heavy duty p/plate. After one year of running the car, I starting having shifting issues. Initially I thought the slave cylinder was giving up and after replacing it and still having the same issues, I thought the p/plate gave out, so I went ahead and bought another ACT 4 puck ceramic disc and a heavy duty p/plate.But when I dropped the gearbox, I realized that it wasn't the disc or the p/plate, but the flywheel. It was worn down a lot and the disc wasn't barely grabbing onto it. And because I couldn't afford any downtime, I installed the 2nd new ACT clutch kit with the worn flywheel. The clutch bites but not at fast as it should at high rpms. So I can't shift fast when I'm running out my rpm. I need to replace the flywheel and install a carbon/kevlar disc and heavy duty p/plate. Oh, and my water pump pulley is so badly worn from the the back of the belt running on it, that it actually has a groove in the pulley and is cutting that new belt that I recently installed. So I already have the new pulley to swap out.
Parts that are still working properly: 1. All Sensors (Oxygen, Crank, Cam, Knock, Coolant Temp, Oil Press) 2. A/C Compressor 3. Electric Power Steering 4. Fuel Pump & Injectors 5. Ignition Coils 6. Radiator 7. Brake Booster, Master & Slave Cylinder, Rotors and Drums 8. Throttle Body 9. Engine 10. Manual Transmission Here's a list of repairs that I've done on my Yaris so far: 1. Struts & Shocks @ 153,000 miles on 9/7/08 2. Alternator @ 323,000 miles on 4/15/09 3. F&R Brake Pads and Shoes ONLY @ 400,000 miles on 2/21/10 (First and ONLY brake job) 4. Driver's Side Rear Hub Assembly @ 435,000 miles on 2/19/11 5. Clutch @ 448,000 miles on 9/3/11 (First clutch job) 6. Backup Switch @ 448,000 miles on 9/8/11 7. Sway Bar End Links @ 451,000 miles on 11/2/11 8. Passenger's Side Rear Hub Assembly @ 457,000 miles on 1/13/12 9. Oxygen Sensors @ 459,000 miles on 2/8/12 10. Alternator @ 467,000 miles on 5/26/12 11. Clutch Slave Cylinder @ 468,000 miles on 6/14/12 (Didn't need replacing. It was the flywheel that was worn) 12. Starter @ 469,000 miles on 6/25/12 13. Alright!
Glad to see a fully intact Yaris hit 500K, that's badass. I'm @ 530ish, but with a second motor swap and one trans swap since I'm going turbo any day now and wanted a fresh start.

Congratulations! Just yesterday, a new member replied to a post I made about changing my oil at 240,010 miles inspired him and that he won't worry anymore about putting too many miles on his Yaris. I replied that you (what you have done) = my inspiration. I don't have the mechanical skills you do to do my own fixes once 'replacement becomes more frequent' (so to speak), but documenting 'what at what mileage interval' as you have helped me decide how long I want to keep my Yaris (probably until almost 400k----and will get another one if the French don't 'muck it up'). I'm at 245,704 miles and there are at least 4 original owners between us -- Contraband831 was at 246,000 when I was at 244,400 and another is at 265,000+ and 2 more are at 350,000+. Among original owners, I think I can safely say that no Yarisworld member will ever catch you. Again, Congratulations! |

Thats amazing!
Part car, part owner...takes two to tango to achieve that type of mileage.
Well done sir!

Amazing! Really glad to see this car is still on the road, and really makes me optimistic about my Yaris. Haven't put a single mile on it in nearly 6 months, so it may take me longer to hit 500k (currently at about 128k).

Congrats Trini. Amazing job you're doing. I'm a long way away from 500k being at only 92k.

Only 1038 miles from last October till now.
At that rate I'll get to 500,000 when Voyager 1 gets to Alpha Centauri.

Unfortunately 500,0000 miles over 7 years doesnt translate into 200,000 miles over 15 years.
The 200,000 mile/15 year car wouldnt do as well.... Still...who can say theyve owned a car with 500k on it?
