new exhaust system cost
Hello:
It's been a while since I have visited the forum, so I hope I created this thread in the appropriate subforum. I bought my 2007 Yaris brand new on April 1st 2006. This April 1st will be nine years I have had it. It has had no after market upgrades. I have just taken very good care of it. It currently has approx. 145,000 miles and runs great. Well, it is about time for a new exhaust from the catalytic converter back to the muffler. Living in PA, besides trying my best to keep it sprayed off, the winters here eat up exhaust systems. I came to find out that the Catalytic converter and the pipe that goes to the muffler is one assembly and costs a rather exorbitant amount. I was quoted at $550, though I think it can be found it cheaper. Does anyone have any advice as the best way to mitigate the cost of replacing the exhaust?. Thanks very much. |

your best bet is to just shop around, idk what people charge up there for exhaust work but down here in texas, welders are everywhere and compete with eachother and offer cheap and quality work. i had my exhaust work done from the header back done for under $200.00
but he didnt charge me labor because it was my friend, but it would have been between 300-350 the yaris doesnt take much pipe to complete the exhaust. go around and get quotes from different shops and dont be shy about negotiating the price. these guys always mark up quite a bit. also whats really going to make the cost go up is the mufflers and what brand you use. the reason why mine is cheap is because i am running straight pipe and one 12 inch glasspack. the glasspack cost me 30 bucks and the piping was maybe 140 all together, and i had bought flanges and gaskets. so best bet is to figure out what you want and go in with an exact idea of what you want and be firm with what you want to spend. |
