transmission oil seal
Does anybody know what the part number is for the drivers side axle oil seal on an 08 yaris sedan is? I can't seem to find anything online and my local dealer is not being very helpful. Thanks in advance. This forum is awesome.

Hmm...the only thing I see on there is an output shaft seal. Don't think that's what I'm looking for.

This is what they list for the Manual Tranny that they carry:
2008 : TOYOTA : YARIS : 1.5L L4 : Transmission-Manual Clutch Hydraulic Hose Clutch Kit Clutch Master Cylinder Clutch Release Bearing Clutch Slave Cylinder Input Shaft Repair Sleeve Input Shaft Seal Output Shaft Repair Sleeve Output Shaft Seal Shift Shaft Seal Transmission Mount Can you further identify what part you have to replace or that is non-funtional? Mayhaps even a photo or two?

For OEM parts, TRDSparks.com or Toyotapartszone.com are the two I use.

The part you received is the actual axle seal, which keeps the fluid in. The outer part in your picture is the "dust cover" and is: 41336-12010

Ok, so how do I go about removing the dust cover without damaging it? There doesn't seem to be anything in the service manual about it.

That is a very good question. I think a seal puller would be the right tool. I had a damaged one that I had to replace (and didn't have a set of seal pullers) and I completely chewed it up trying to get the bad one out.

All I have is a slide hammer and an old Mac seal puller. I wonder if pulling the inner seal and the dust cover as one unit would work. I just don't want to mangle that dust cover and have to wait for another part to come in.

OK, now this is starting to get frustrating. The only thing that is in that hole is what you call a dust cover
This little seal that I have doesn't appear anywhere. What gives? |

Ok, so from what I can figure out the dust cover is actually part of the axle, not attached to the transmission. What I pulled out is the actual oil seal so the part that I have is not what I needed. Im not sure where it goes but I'm guessing that its either the input shaft or output shaft which is not what I am looking for so i guess its another trip to the dealer and wait another day for the correct part. Will post correct part number when I figure it out.

It has been over 3 years since I did mine, and it was on an automatic. I am going by the electronic parts catalog. Here are the diagrams that I got the part numbers from:
