Philips HID Kit - Help Needed

Hello Yarisworld,

I am considering purchasing a Philips 6000K HID kit, after researching and concluding they are the best (up for debate, but not here, not now please). Although the staff at http://www.autolamps-online.com (not a shameless plug) has been great in providing me details, I wanted to ask the Yarisworld members the more specific details relating directly to the Yaris.

Recently, I have been corresponding with their support staff, and have received and installation diagram that I would like some assistance with please. I am not sure where some of the wires would run to. If I relate it to my fog light install that I did using Toyota's manual, then I had to use a a relay in the interior fusebox, and a wiring into the engine fusebox as well.

Looking at the picture, is there anything like that to be done? Where does the relay go? What does the 20A fuse mean? Also, what does the bottom right diagram warning mean? Since the Yaris has this shield in the mirror housing, is the HID bulb going to hit it?

Please offer any relevant details to clear my uncertainty. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

If you are purchasing a bixenon kit (HID for both Hi and lo beams), you will need to wire to a 12V lead. I simply added a relay off the battery, and have had no problems. I will advise you that I NEVER use the hi beams (the pattern is uneven) and the lo beams are awesome. If I did it again, I would only buy a single HID setup.

you really should just buy a kit off of me...whats a phillips kit going to run you? H4 from me would be $100 for bixenon, I'm local, and when the weather is nice, I'd help you install it....i have just about every H4 colour in-stock right now too

the wiring is easy peasy....install is like an hour

Where does the relay go?
the short side (see picture) go on driver side and long wiring on passager side, my I pass the cable just under the lacth (for open the hood) put some GOOD tie-wrap until the passager
What does the 20A fuse mean- because yaris have DRL (day running light) so like that your light and ballast does freak (because DRL work on 6v) not sure...the fuse is on the relay

if you speak french I already dit a HOW TO -

the hid's basically run off the battery and the relay acts as a switch off the stock wiring. so when the drl's come on, it switches on the circuit for the hids. so you have full power hid's as your drl's. i have this setup on my chevy aveo....i took out the drl module in the yaris...

the relay sits under my drivers side headlight

Haven't bought them yet. They will run around $400.

Not saying I'm willing to pay this much, but the real deal seems to cost more.

I've read plenty of horror stories about fried electrical systems, flickering light patterns etc that I just want to be cautious/informed before making any purchases, and especially before doing any install.

Yeah...anything over $120 is too much for HID's these days. The stuff Garm and Barber are selling is no different than the phillips stuff, unless phillips is claiming their stuff is DOT-approved.

I was considering these. I know he sells top quality stuff. Do they work well with the mirror housings and plug and play with Yaris stock wiring?

I too would recommend these. The bulbs fit perfectly, everything is plug and play, and the lights themselves are great quality.

So Garms can do high and low beams, hense "bi-xenon"?

How does that affect daytime running lights, dashboard display icons for low/highbeam?

I'm still considering even getting HIDs. I want to fully understand what I will gain/loss by going with as SET.

Can you comment on whether the dash symbols are lost for low/high beam?

Ok, so as this is my first car with bi-xenon lights, I have a couple questions.

I have had HID's in my last 3 cars and they have all been plug and play kits. I dont think I ever turned on my high beams with the HID's installed. The whole thing about relays and shit makes me hesitate on whether or not to buy them. However, I do love that with the bi-xenon kit uses the HID's as its drl's too!

1. Does the kit from Garm use the HID's as drl's as well?
2. Is Garm's kit plug and play?
3. thebarber, is your kit plug and play? if not how hard is it to install?

thanks guys

install is easy....took me about 30 or 45 min since its easiest to take off the bumper and headlights to get at everything...
