Yeah it is said that a person should keep their car outside in the winter, or in an unheated garage, as the cold temps prevent the water and salt from corroding the metal. Also, apparently, the worst rusting happens in the spring, which makes sense as all the salt that has made its way into panels gets nicely activated by the copius water and warmer temps. I often rustproof in the spring too. In the fall, and then in the spring.
I've read lots about POR15. It would probably be good for the Yaris rear wheel wells after the rubberized undercoating inevitably wears off. I bet it would also do a great job on the struts and suspension components, especially as they are hidden from the UV. I understand that POR15, despite being a high quality encapsilator, does not like UV and should be topcoated when it will be exposed to sunlight.
