Feedback on reliability of buying car parts online.
Hello fellow yaris owners.
I was just wondering if anyone had any feed back on some of the online car parts websites (ex. Tdotperformance.ca, carid.com, tirerack.com etc..). if anyone has bought from any of these or others that ship to Canada, I would like to know what your experience was like. Has anyone had any issues with a product not fitting properly after using the websites guaranteed fitment or filtered parts for only your make/model/year of vehicle then ended up with parts for other cars, anything like that. Ultimately I just want to know if these websites are reliable before spending my money. Thanks for any help/feedback you can give me. |

I can't speak to the above websites but I have ordered many parts from eBay and rockauto (my go to) and have them shipped to my US address to save on shipping. I have never had an issue with a faulty part of one bit fitting.
Unfortunately I cannot say the same for parts I have drove around to find at local parts stores, mistakes are commonly made in their end of parts have been defective (threads not properly chased on an end link)

I order'd from carid and tirerack, but again US based not canadian, I know also ROCKAUTO and your standard THmotorsports is a good site.
the biggest issue is ordering based on the correct model and years. with the Yarii there's a few changes in the body between years. like the 06-08 Grill and front bumper vs the later 09+s./... |

With this forum, you have 12 years of Canadians having to deal with only being able to order from the States. There are no cost effective Canadian suppliers for most parts. Small things like bolts, gaskets and what-not can be picked up at local dealerships and parts stores. Bigger and aftermarket stuff is strictly south of the border. No one has screamed bloody murder cause either the wrong stuff arrived, of things don't fit.
Stay away from TDOT.

I've ordered online from both New Brunswick and Ontario. I would say that with ANY car you need to make sure you know what you're ordering and don't assume the website knows whats best.
Paying for the shipping to return things sucks a bit more in Canada than in the US. Have a P.O. box in the US, by chance?

Super helpful. Also does anyone have any experience with myUS.com or any other similar website? |

Many years ago (mid-to-late 90s) when I was stationed in Germany I ordered several sets of tires through TireRack.com. Never had any complaints.

Sorry for bumping an old thread, but any Ontarians have any suggestions on using a Niagara/Buf border mailbox service, for cheaper shipping costs.

SGS mailboxes off whirlpool just across the rainbow bridge. I've used it or for a long time without issue and they are easy to deal with.
They can also deliver to their Hamilton location for a small extra fee. Google them, they have a decent website

I've ordered from Tdot because nobody in the states could beat their price, but that's not always the case.
I've otherwise been using CBI in Niagara falls NY for about 5 years with no complaints. |
