Ehh so
..... i got the NST UD pulley today and well tried to install it and omgwtfpwnz i cant get the bolt off. my impact gun is a 1/2 drive so i couldnt get a good grip
on it to cover the bolt with the socket. I manage some how to get it in a little slanted and a little grip. That didnt work. I am working with a 250 tq electric gun. Any suggestions??? By the way thats the only gun i could get. |

^+1....That's how I'm going to get 'er done on Monday at Microimage.
$10 breaker bar at harbor freight can "fix" anything. |

You should be able to use a short extension for the impact if you can't get it to fit directly on the bolt. Putting the car in gear and using a breaker bar is a pretty abusive way to do it (if that even works). There's another way to do it with a breaker bar, but I don't think anyone who knows wants to give up the secret due to liability reasons.

insane mechanics when I got mine installed could not loosen it by hand either... so one guy held on the breaker bar real strong while the other cranked the engine for a split second... Worked like a charm! Though be careful if you try this, you probably don't want to clean up pieces of shredded appendages from your engine bay...

I was able to get it loose with just a breaker bar and a rubber strap wrench... cranking the engine with the breaker bar on the the nut is insanely dangerous... you could hurt yourself and/or the car.. I would NOT recommend it...

In case you're wondering I wrapped the strap wrench around the pulley, and braced it against the chassis so I didn't have to hold it, and just cranked real hard on the breaker bar... If you think you might have problems with that, get a pipe to go over the end to lengthen it so you can get more leverage... as Archimedes said, “Give me a lever long enough, and a prop strong enough, I can single-handed move the world.”

heh notice he never said it was a good way are necessarily recommended it. You can get a tire back on the rim by spraying combustibles inside it then lighting a match, but why the hell would you actually try it?

TOUGEghost,
You're telling me putting the car in gear and applying the brakes (to keep the engine from spinning), and then using a 30" long breaker bar with a fully seated socket is abusive? Explain. |

sounds like the belt isn't tight enough... if its tight, the belt pretty much HAS to move with the pulley.
