Block notching.
Hey guys I'm starting my engine build as we speak (1nz) it's been a long time in the making and I heard that I have to notch the block for rod clearance?
My question is do both sides have to be notched or just the one? Btw I'm using pauter rods Cheers Corb |

Hope someone can jump in if I'm wrong, but since the bores are offset to one side of the crankshafts centerline, I'm guessing only one side has a clearance issue.

Why the rebuild? How many miles? I thought T engines last the life of the car!
I think the rods will wear their own notches once the engine is running!

The OP is building a performance engine.
Notching is required for the aftermarket rods. There is a nice video of the notching required on this build thread: http://www.yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=43995
