Info regarding Engine change.
Hi guyz, i have been using my vitz 1.0 auto for about 8 months now. everything is smooth and perfect except the SLOWW engine. today after a long search i found a replacement engine 1.5 (without a gearbox) but its in another city. i dont know the details on that engine yet. but the price tag is preety decent. the engine is available along with all the genuine wirings + the computer kit. Any help into what i should look at. which engine model is this? can the engine be changed without any fabrication? i will be using the same gearbox that i have in my car now. Can it be done, should it be done? Please help. suggestions etc.

most of us here have very little experience with other engines, but here's a few things for you to check
1) What is the code name of your transmission? You should have a plate on the frame of one of your doors with all sorts of information, like engine code, paint code and transaxle code 2) make sure the new engine is a 1NZ-FE, as toyota has a couple other engines of that size. Of course, this is certainly not going to be an easy project, you should be prepared to have to hire a professional to handle it.

First and most important - do the motor mounts match? 2 in front and 1 underneath.

i researched a bit, and found out that my current engine is 1KR-FE. So, if i upgrade it with 1NZ-FE, can i just use the game gearbox as i have now? Also, where can i check if it will sit down on the same mounts as meant for 1KR-FE?. The same gearbox (auto) that i have now should work, right?
The computer cables, the KIT, the ECU. there's no one i know here who can manage that. But they are just supplying complete engine will all the wirings + the ECU. CAN it be done? |
