Lost coins... in console??

This is kinda embarassing. I own a 2008 model Yaris; you know how there are little cup holders/bottle holders at the side of the console beside the AC controls (one facing the drivers side, one facing the passengers side); I slipped some coins into this bay and a couple of them sounded like they "fell down", I examined this area and noticed its possible for slim items to slide under and fall "into" the console...
It's now eating me up inside that there are items sitting somewhere. I'd like to know where something like that would end up, whether it was possible to recover them, and whether they could cause damage by being left there.

Thanks

You're not the first to post about this little known feature of the Yaris. It has it's own built in 'Piggy Bank'.

it's not actually very difficult to dismantle that.

look at the rear seat cupholder at the back of that console, it should have a false 'floor' you can pull up, and a screw under there. unscrew that, and you can pull up the whole thing to see what's under :)

I thought I was the only person that had this problem. I lost a total of $10.00 bucks.

Maybe this is the cause of my mystery sound (see other post).
I store all my change in the left side cubby and have had to pry stuck coins from it's grasp. Perhaps some have become 'term deposits' without my knowledge.

Well I lifted the carpet under the drivers side and I heard the coins fall out! I recovered more than I thought was under there too.
I found a paper clip, a couple of coins AND the key number plate! Looks like the previous owner might have lost it in there. Now I'm really glad I obsessed about this

+1. I've lost enough coinage down there to want to start using the little slots in the driver side glove box

or at least use the little cubby to the left of the driver, below the cup holder.
