Sitting in car with engine off

I often sit in my car with the engine off, whether I'm listening to the radio, talking on the phone, etc. Is there any problem with doing this and leaving the key in the ON position for a long time? I have heard someone say that I should switch it to ACC in order to make some components last longer, but I don't quite understand that. I like ON simply because in ACC, there is an annoying beep when you open the door. And it's nice to have the clock display.

I'm installing a voltmeter so I can keep an eye on the battery.

I took out instrument cluster and physically removed buzzer,no more annoying buzz.

I also installed afetrmarket stereo(Shows time/date) and have it directly wired with toggle switch where foglight switch is.

you can directly wire the factory deck aswell.

some say without buzzer you will forget things are on that the buzzer would ordinarily warn you about.Never had a problem with all my cars over the years.

I also have my fogs hooked up direct with toggle.have never forgot to turn those off either.

ACC>Components last longer doesnt make sense.Need more info.

All the way to on will also turn on all your stuffs, including the ECU and gas pump. Quite a power hog for nothing.
