Widest tires I can get for 15 stock wheelies

tire rack says 205/55/15

i've heard that wider tires means more stability on the road, and the wind won't push you around as much

is it true?

will it slow down my yaris?

thanks!

Exclamation

if you want to go wider on the stock 15s, i wouldn't recommend going wider than 195. you'll be stretching the tires too much.

I'm on 195/55/15's on the same setup you are looking at. I would agree with Split that the difference b/w going 10mm wider is not as important as the safety factor of stretching tires, IMO.

I also live in a windy climate, so that was also my concern while upgrading my tires.
The gearing will change, and the tires will feel less responsive torque-wise.
But the grip should make up for it.

You can very safely install 205mm tyres on wheels from 5.5-7.0". No worries, mate. Recommended replacement size for the Yaris is indeed 205/55/15.

BTW, stretching a tyre means attempting to install a narrow tyre on a wide wheel; for example, 195mm tyres on 8" wheels. This kind of fitment is not recommended.
