Had my brakes done....now handbrake is harder to pull.
So I just picked up my car from the shop. I had my front disc brakes serviced because my brakes were squealing louder than a pig seeing how bacon is prepared. But I noticed as I parked my car, the handbrake takes alot more effort to lift up. Did my mechanic tighten it for good reason? Also, what is the proper procedure for lifting the handbrake? Do you press the button and then lift, and let go? Or do you just lift, while hearing the clicking noise and let go?

he probably just tightened it for good measure like you said. as for how to work it i don't think either way will hurt anything but i always press the button in putting it on

Sounds like they did a good job .
I use both methods of parking brake application . Everyday I just pull and listen to the clicking sound . During "killin season" , I press the button and ease the lever up and then release the button as not to alert anything to my presence . Yes when I get to the woods the lights go off and the night vision goggles go on ...........

Its harder because he did a proper brake job of not just doing the front brakes but making sure the rear brakes were cleaned and adjusted as a result your hand brake is properly adjusted. It was probally just very loose before for the longest time you have goten used to it. It should only go up about 3-4 clicks and then stop.

3 or 4 clicks....Got it. My hand brake was never this hard. When I bought the car, it was as loose as normal.... Glad it's good and strong now!
