On other vehicles I've owned the front swaybar end links have worn with the resultant joint play causing a clunk sound when only a single front tire hits a bump loading the sway bar and it's links. The OEM links in our Ford Escape were done at 65,000 kilometers. The end links on my Talon needed replacement but not until well after 150,000 kl.
The Yaris now has 82,000 kl. with no clunking yet.

As MUSKOKA800 has said it could be your end link, I don't have my Yaris here with me so I don't know what kind of end link it uses but if it's anything like my HHR there's a good chance that's the problem. My HHR went bad on the left side at 30k, good luck and keep us informed.

Later,
Al

would you also hear this sound when making sharp left or right turns? I ask because I'm experiencing a similar clanking noise. it almost sounds like metal grinding on metal when I make a right-handed u-turn, or when I turn tightly to the right to fit into a parking space

oh and i'm all stock, 26k miles

if both left and right problems started at the same time it could the steering rack, if you're still under warranty take it to the dealer for repairs. Good luck.
