Roof rack question..
What type of Roof Rack does the Yaris need?
Would this work without modification? |

that appears to be a thule rack(due to the square crossbars). you can probably make it work if the clips are the right size - the clips are sized for individual vehicles. however, unless you have a stretch kit your crossbar spread(even if the clips fit) will only be about a foot or so making it useless to haul anything except a small basket, bike trays(possibly), or a ski/snowboard mount. if you're looking to haul longer items such as canoe/kayak, cargo box, etc. you will need the stretch kit which allows the rear crossbar to go back further than just the frame of the door(this is all assuming your talking about your 3-door as the vehicle in question). if it's the 5-door or sedan you shouldn't have a problem - i've got a yakima set-up on my yaris sedan and it works great!
finally, if you decide to make it work you might want to invest in a fairing as it will HOWL on top of your car at highway speeds and *may* cut down on the mpg loss somewhat(i don't own a scanguage yet so i can't confirm or deny that). good luck and post pics if it works! |

Thanks for the response, toad. It is off of a 1991 Accord and has also been on a 2003 Civic. It is indeed a Thule. I went to Thule's website to check and it just tells me there is no compatible rack for the 3-dr Yaris, so I can't confirm which clips will work.
I'm looking to haul bicycles, so the stretch kit isn't an issue. Thanks again. |

Just found the clips and they are, of course, different - since the Yaris clips are specific to it.
Wonder how hard it would be to get it to fit if I bought it..? (without buying the $60 fit clips) |

^ Won't work. The whole stability of a rack is reliant on the clips. Trying to make it fit will, at best be semi-tight, at worst damage your door frame.
Walk away.

get the exact fit! otherwise you'll regret it, and besides that picture makes the roof rack look grubby :s Keep shopping is my advice.

Thanks for the input guys. I'll have to pass on a roof rack for now, then. Was hoping for a cheap solution (that Thule rack above is only $10) but it looks like I'll be going easily over $300 bucks to get the right fit.
