I think thats pretty common for that to happen and not something that needs fixing, I could be wrong however. Dont hold it against me if I'm wrong.

I`ve got H&R springs and everything looks like before under the hood. I can hardly believe this is normal. I´ve never seen that issue in german Toyota forums.

No!!!!! I had that issue with my Megan coilovers. It was a piece of the stock assembly that was missing. This is what allowed it to come through the strut tower. No bueno.

If you have a look at the strut assembly i can hardly find any reason why this could be normal. There must be something wrong. The upper cap prevents the whole thing from moving down.

Did u put the first nut in the right place below the big black rubber thing?

Can you not count!

In this thread alone, there are 5 for it's OK. Now add that total to ALL of the other strut gap threads in here and I lose count.

Go to a dealer and look under the hood of a new one. Guess what it is you'll see...

And just so that YW has it, here is the pic from post #42 in the thread over on MI. The top of the strut needs to act like a hip joint in the strut tower. Imagine the damage to the tower if the top hat was clamped down tight.
