how to get the most out of stock rims?

So I hate that I even have to ask this question, but my tires have died before I've saved enough for new rims. So I need to rewrap the stock rims. I'm sure many of you more stock guys will understand my plight - at high speeds the car can sway pretty badly with the wind. I lose slight traction when I'm turning at higher speeds like on a highway. Going over bumps in the city can make my car slide. Etc. I tried searching but didn't find anything that is a specific answer to this - what should I look for/brands/etc to best fix these issues while still sticking to the stock rim? I saw stuff about stretching, which I know nothing about, but I'm pretty sure that wouldn't help.
