In Indonesia, the second-gen Vitz or old global Yaris is called "Bakpao" because many Indonesian thinks that the design is like those Chinese traditional steamed white bun.

However, until today you can still see many of these legendary hatchback still driving around by its beloved owners on every part of Indonesia roads, from big metropolitan like Jakarta, Bandung, or Surabaya until the remote area, because it is known for its durability and easy maintenance.

It such a contrast to its biggest competitors back in the mid-00's (the first sales of this Yaris generation was started around 2006 in Indonesia), such as Honda Jazz/Fit and Nissan March. Many of Honda Jazz or March from the same period as this Yaris, has disappeared from Indonesia roads.
