Fixing a flat tire
While rotating my tires, I saw a nail head in a tire. Here is my fix.
1) Over inflate the tire. 2) Get tools ready. 3) Pull nail out and insert file. 4) Prepare plug and put rubber cement on it. 5) Insert plug and remove tool. 6) Clean off ends of plug. 7) Check the air pressure. Although the tire wasn't leaking I would rather fix it on my terms than have it go flat on the highway.

Good job!
![]() I came home Fri. to find a 2 inch screw in my brand new pass rear tire myself. ![]() I used your method but did'nt ream out the hole and did'nt have rubber cement. You DO have to run the reamer through. The hole in my tire was small and close to the sidewall. The plugs are quite wide. I was real ticked off and in a hurry, haste makes waste. Everyone should have one of these inexpensive kits at home...

FYI, if you insert the plug, light it on fire for a bit and it will fuse with the rubber and pretty much guarentee a permanent seal.

Well done.
But my understanding is that radials shouldn't be plugged but rather patched on the inside. Of course this would require un-mounting the tire, patch, re-mount and re-balance. All in all a more costly process.
