215/40/r16 rubbing ?
I currently have yokohama s-drives in front this size and there is no rubbing as i am not dropped at all.. I wonder whether there will be rubbing in the back if i have the same size tires.
my mags are 7" wide with offset 38. p.s My car is completly stock . I am also wondering whether itll be bad for the engine or gears. Thanks |

I was lowered on Micro Image springs and ran same size tire (but i think mine was 45 series), on similar sized wheel.
only rubbed in front during really hard cornering The rear only rubbed on the freeway (bumpy portions) with 3 passengers weighing a total of 675 lbs or so. here's a link to how they looked on the Yaris http://yarisworld.com/forums/showthread.php?t=30668 |

^ the offset is either a + or - number (zero offset not included)
Breaking this down as easy as possible, I'd describe it as: - gives you more outside lip. the higher the number, the more lip + gives you less lip. Back in the old days, "deep dish" wheels had that huge amount of lip. Those were - with really high numbers. I like to go to this website for comparing wheel and tire sizes (as well as offsets). I use it often. http://rimsntires.com/specs.jsp |

here is something I found on a google search I assume that when we say an offset of 40, we mean a positive offset of 40..or 38... or whatever.
so bigger positive number means more tucked tires...I think.

my offset is negative 38 i had forgot to clarify that.
so i guess the rear wheel will never rub unless i change my rubber to more then 40's right ? |
