Is this forum dead or what?

Seems like every other time I log in I don't see much of a difference in posts or new threads some of the London time members haven't been on in long time. Vacation?
If you don't post here with your thoughts only proves a point

The fact that this generation is at the end of its run, doesn't seem to help with the lack of enthusiasm.

I've had my car less than a year, but I plan on keeping it at least 10 years. I'm here for the long haul.

Still alive. If you want to see dead, check out the "news" section of the most common other non-luxury brand of Toyota forum (I will not name names). Their newsworthy topics used to change everyday. . . but now they've been the same for over 6 months. Add to that, the news that the two door model was quoted by Jalopnik as being a "poser" car is still a top ten news story, and the story was posted September 9, 2010, over a year ago.

I honestly enjoy the pace of this forum. It may not have new posts every second, but we sure manage to avoid 5 posts a minute about how an economy car with an exhaust, intake, and "chip" can manage to out perform Ferarri's, BMW's, and Corvette's in street "races." It's a very realistic (and helpful) group here. We USUALLY don't make outrageous and unrealistic claims about our cars (because we know exactly what they are and make no pretenses), and we still can manage to make fun of ourselves, without having someone come in and whine about being "mean" or not being constructive. Of course, there are places on the internet where the one guy becomes the hero and champion of the forum; the ONE heavily modified car who argues to death about how his car is the END-ALL-BE-ALL of all things on 4 wheels; the one car they use as an excuse for making fun of cars 5 times their performance and 5 times their sticker price (and yes, price isn't everything).

Now there used to be some problems between members here that may have caused some problems, but that was before my time joining this forum. So far, I kinda like it here.

I bought a Yaris because I moved to a country that has a 100-200% tax (I'm not paying $USD100k on a BMW 318 thank you) on imported cars, and the Yaris is locally built, taxed ONLY (hahahahhaah) 30%. I moved to this forum because I discovered that there are some cool, level-headed people here. It's one of the few economy car forums where the mods won't warn you for saying bast**d (I was threatened with a ban-hammer elsewhere for that very word, written in exactly the same manner). We can post NSFW threads with warnings, and not see a fuss of complaints from Mommy and Daddy who bought their kid the same car and are part of the same forum. We, for the most part, bought and own our own cars here. . . and it shows. And I've owned luxury cars and motorcycles (and am a member on other forums for such).

Yeh I've noticed it as well but the fact is, the model is changing and its not like a performance car where tonnes of aftermarket support is out there.

I've joined this year and articles from 2007-2010 have helped me alot. Thanks, I love it here. Will try to keep the Sedan flame going, seems hatchbacks rule here :D lol

I'm still around.

I don't think the forum is dead, it's just slowed down a bit. I'd rather see a slower forum where the new stuff is worth reading and discussing, versus a forum with a zillion new posts that aren't worth bothering with. I personally think we have a great group of down-to-earth guys (and girls!) who are fun to converse with and to learn from. Hell, I've turned my car into a little hobby thanks to the fine folks here.

Long live YW!

If old pharts like me are still around and posting, it isn't dead yet. We tend to get bored and distracted easily.

If you ever feel lonely, stop by the California section on here. It's pretty active right now, I my opinion.

But as everyone stated, the year is ending (most people just want to wait for a fresh start) and funds aren't available for financial reasons~
Others are busy with college like myself....

It also doesn't help that Toyota gives us nothing to look forward to. Unfortunately Hyundai, Kia, and Ford are doing much better jobs on product updates.
