How to make Yaris hatch ride quieter?
I got a 2008 Yaris hatch for my first car, and the only thing I don't like about it is how loud the road noise is. My parents drive a 2006 Lexus Rx330, and it drives very quietly compared to the Yaris. How can I reduce the road noise on my car?

they are going to be pretty noisy... they arnt my any mean "luxury" they are economy and designed to be sold cheep. You could try some sound proofing in the door panels and maybe rear hatch where the spare is... otherwise I dont have any other options.
search "sound proofing" for some DIYs.

This is only meant as a semi-joke:
Wear earplugs. I do sometimes when I ride a motorcycle. If the noise bothers you that much, then it's a quick fix. |

Even if I had to, I wouldn't. I like to play my music loud, but I don't wanna have to turn it up a lot more because of the road noise.

Like YAR1S said - sound proofing with dynamat or something similar helps a great deal - but don't expect Lexus quiet. I still get tons of noise from the tires (depending upon the road surface) though ambient sounds are reduced quite a bit (other cars and such.)

raise car
scrub everything apply thick rubber truck bedliner to every non-moving and non-heated surface, including inside wheel wells remove interior including door panels and headliner apply dynamat to every possible surface while still being able to refasten the interior apply bedliner to surfaces which are too narrow for dynamat put car back together install quiet tires like michelin harmony -- done. it will ride very quiet |

also, if one was to go through that much effort, to even out the weight one could simply remove the rear seats, rear cover, and spare. that's around 140 pounds right there, lol. |

get dynomat or fatmat. MAJOR difference in road noise. bonus points if you double layer fatmat behind firewall, where like 70% of that noise is. it takes about 65sq ft and 8man hrs solo to cover a majority of the car--trunk, doors (5dr) under seats, basically lower half of car. I guess another 20sq ft for the firewall (never matted the front)

Grow old and your hearing will make it sound like the wood at night.
