That's pretty neat. Does it come in black? What's it supposed to do if you DON'T have an intake then?

Lots of designs come to mind... With this scoop many designs are possible... A simple air box built into this scoop and a hose could feed a stock intake easy...I have a afe so I will need to seal intake, build air box, design feed etc... etc...will post pics when done.

I saw this kraftwerks supercharger kit for the fit a few weeks ago and it uses a cowl vent to duct air to the intercooler pretty sweet set-up imo , here is a link for some ideas. http://www.fitfreak.net/forums/fit-f...formation.html

hey thanks for posting that up. I have a few in black left. There's a little bit of a gap in the rear, so I never put them up in my store.

wait... im a little confused by this... this looks more like a fresh air in-cabin intake setup.. not for the intake for the manifold... are u planning on maying a box that double backs from behind the battery to the front of the hood where the intake actually sits? ur going to have to cut the aluminum cowl piece that is right under that hood scoop to do that.. or am i not just getting this..

no offense, it looks cool. and functional. i just think it would be more fuctional for an intake in front of the hood.. or like the C-One front bumper looks like with that vent hole in the top left part of the bumper.. its early in the morning still

Believe it or not, the hood cowl area is a very high pressure zone, which can provide the engine with lots of fresh air. :)

In stock car racing, the front grilles are only used for engine and brake cooling. There's actually a small cutout in the cowl where air is forced into the airbox, through the filter and into the carburetor.

While generally true, I wonder if it is true for the Yaris. When I drive with the vent set on "fresh air" I get very little air flow without the fan on. It seems like the transition from hood to windshield is so flat that there very little pressure. My other cars with a more traditional shape will flow air with the fan off. I was thinking of installing a little air dam right above the cowl intake unless this scoop is available for the right hand side?

ok.. i think we are talking about 2 different things now.. yes you are aright about the hood cowl and my fault for misunderstanding the OP. i thought they were reffering to the carbon fiber scoop on the cowl under the drivers wiper blade.

The above link shows a good idea of a design to run the cowl scoop to the air box... It's a very short run.

We are talking about the carbon scoop ... As for other ways to do this yes their are many, this one involves the micoimage cowl scoop.

The whole idea in my mind is fun ! It's a good solid base to design from and create a custom system. If a person wants a out of the box quick bolt on system then this may not be for them.

I have been building and designing ram air, fresh air scoop systems since 1985 ,it's all just a hobby thing for me.

The last one i built a few years ago was for my lt1 70 stingray ... I used a l88 hood for the base and custom built a glass air box, seal system,bAse and air cleaner assy....A true fresh air system that only feed outside cool air to carb.

The interior fresh air system has much blockage...the outside screen is very tight, the filter system is very restrctive etc...

Here is a pic that shows their is nothing under where the scoop is...no cutting needed. For reference the red blur in bottom is battery rubber + cover.

Its a short run to the air intake, many ways to feed air to it from the cowl scoop.

^^ yes, ive been looking at them and by far so much cheaper than the fiberglass hoods for other cars. right now i purchased sideskirts and rear bumper from another memeber on here and they are in the bodyshop right now getting fixed and repainted. right now im looking for a C-One used front bumper before i go for the hood. trying to get the really expensive things out the way first.
