DF210 Spring Install Problem - Toyota Yaris Forums

I installed a new set of DF210 springs yesterday that I got from Garm. Install was easy. I know people complain about the uneven drop of the DF210's, but the pictures by other members don't seem to show that.

However, after installing mine, my rear was quite a bit lower than it seemed like it should be. The some measurements:

Front ground to wheel well: 24"

Rear ground to wheel well: 23" (an inch too low??)

In the back, I have a small 8" sub, and a "milk crate" with about 6 engineering textbooks. Oh, and 1/2 a tank of gas. Looking under, the bottom 3 coils are fully collapsed. Those coils don't have the black "wrap" on them.

For the rear, I placed the ends of the springs towards the back of the car. I might try rotating them to the front tomorrow and see if it helps.

So, is this normal?

Edit: Also looking at pictures, it seems the bottom 3-4 coils are suppose to have the wrapping on them. Mine didn't come with that wrap, so my bottom coils, which touch, don't have any wrapping.

The front, or rear? Or both? I'm assuming you mean the front will settle to match the rear?

I should drop in the front as the springs settle. The rear not so much as the load it holds isn't as great, hence the shape, size, coil difference in the springs from front to back.

The rear looks about as low as it should go, subs, milk crate and all - mine sit around the same. As for the front, it's quite a bit higher than it should be, relative to the rear. Usually on the DF's the front is around .4" or so higher. My springs have not sagged that much in three years, though.

SeriousBlack, thanks for the heads up. I figure I'll let it be until this coming weekend. Worse case, I'll add a 0.5" spacer in the rear to balance it all out.

I was going to say, it's going to take a good week or week and half for it to settle in pretty well. Also I know it might sound like a stupid question but when you measured, where you on completely even ground? Even a slightly uneven surface can make one side look much more off than the other.

Yes, it was on a level surface. It was like that as soon as I took it off the lift. And I have the lift in my other garage.

Mine was the same way....no worries.....the front struts are pretty strong and so is the new spring and it takes a couple of weeks of driving to settle to the advertised ride height...

the backs wont go much lower,maybe a half inch or so,you got the same measurements I got on my install day and through the first week.
