Yaris TS EC67 Gearbox removal

Hello,

I own a European Yaris TS ZSP90L (late 2008 model) with a 2ZR-FE engine and an EC67 6-speed manual gearbox. Due to leaks, I need to replace the central slave cylinder / release bearing in the bellhousing. An acquaintance of mine works at Toyota and said that, according to the workshop manual, the transmission has to be removed while still connected to the engine to access the release cylinder. However, he has only worked on Yaris TS models of this year with a 5-speed manual transmission. In my experience, Toyota workshop manuals are very cautiously worded. Has anyone ever removed the gearbox with the engine still installed, or is it too cramped in the engine compartment?
