ozmdd - that's a perfect drop height. Any ride problems?

Nope, but it was about 1/2" lower at first and was scuffing the front fender liners. I get no rubbing now, even on some of our rougher streets. If I take a dip or bump too fast, I'll occasionally get a momentary rub up front, but its never significant. Bear in mind I'm 40 and not tolerant of noises or rubbing, so minor to me is really minor. The handling is ridiculous with these.

If you have an axle-back exhaust that has larger-diameter tubing AND you do the rear-axle mod (relocating pivot bolt), you may get some rattling when the exhaust bumps the top of the axle. I installed a shorter, stiffer Poly hanger that took care of it, but now the axle is back in stock position (required for SCCA autocross classing), and there is plenty of clearance.

No no no... this is on Megan Coilovers. Lowering springs can give you a nice budget drop but not this low, and your stock shocks/struts will also not do their job as well. Cut springs could be even worse, since they are really soft.

If you want to get a good drop affordably, pick-up some DF210's used from someone on the forum (I saw a set for $100 in the classifieds) or some other 2" drop springs. Don't forget you will need an alignment afterwards. The install is pretty simple though. The three things you need to be sure you have are an offset 17mm box wrench, a set of metric Allen wrenches, and a strut spring compressor (loaner tool at most auto parts stores, also under $30 at Harbor Freight).

If you really want to try cut springs, I've got a set of oem take-offs (<200 miles) that I'll sell you for $40+shipping that you can cut without ruining your originals. (or cut your originals and save these for later).

If you really want the kind of drop I've got (or bigger), start saving for some coilovers. Eventually, that's where you'll go anyway, so save your $$ and don't buy new lowering springs and aftermarket struts. The used-spring method is a fun, cost-effective way to get a drop.

That is pretty low but not flush, no -camber and not enough offset...looks good though! I'm a bit of a flush freak myself, just have to be into that kind of look.

Flush means having the rim lip flush with the fender, this can be done by stretching a small tire on a very wide rim with a very crazy offset not meant for your car. It also requires a quite a bit of poke, rolled and pulled fenders, wheel adapters and or spacers. It can also require grinding down the calipers to so the rims clear that depends on your back spacing. You also need either custom shims or camber bolts or companys make them. Extended wheel studs come in handy as well. You can achieve the look in many ways, custom shortend struts with cut springs, coilovers, air ride... The list goes on. If your not rubbing and rolling rough your not low enough! It can cause some major problems if not done right! I've already messed a fender up and went back to lowering springs until garm hooks me up with some new goodies!

Man here in the midwest people either love it or hate, and we have one of the biggest VW chapters and lemme tell ya...Those guys will rip your ass apart if you start talking like you know anything about suspension setups. I was barley allowed to attend a local meet due to my car not looking the part. But not anymore, i took the hard road and it is slowly paying off, im not trying to be a dick, but man ive gone through hell and back here in st.louis to prove the Yaris can look amazing just like any of those cars seen on the stance sites. Im just trying to show people on this site, it can and will be done...you can pull some of the sickest setups off with the Yaris as long as you have the time and put in that effort and take everyones opinions with respect!
