best size for track - Toyota Yaris Forums

what's the best size to track the car on? I want to go 17x8.5 +25 offset and stretch my tires, but I thought 16x7 might be better? I have no idea

need some help

16 x 7 best way with + 45 or +43 offset

If you wanna go fast, go with a 15" wheel and like a 205--tire. Get as light as possible, and go with an R compound. If you strip the interior (takes like a hour), you will not have enough power or weight to overpower the tires, and the lighter weight will help acceleration. Plus, 15" wheels and tires are a little cheaper than 16" and 17" wheels and tires.

I've been running a 500-treadwear tire at the Streets and the Autoclub Roval, and the lack of grip was due to suspension and the hard tire, not its size.

I autocross my daily tires. My wheels are 15x7 +40 and for tires I have BFG G-Force Sports in 205/50-15. I have yet to find the end of grip to these tires in the dry, but in the wet they are not so good. These are also relatively a hard compound for the AutoX but are a nice long lasting set on the street.

I think I am going to run a dedicated track set of rims and tires next year. More specifically a set of Rota Slipstream 15x7 +40 with Hoosier A6 205/50-15. This will give me endless grip for the most part as long as I dont go stupid on the course.

They weigh 6.5 pounds each!!

Wouldn't mind selling them...

If you can get a set of dedicated tires, run super small rubbers on them. Or if you can get only front two, just get some rims that'll clear the rotors, and get wide tires, with sidewalls that are smaller than stock size.

I think it depends. If I were going with a dedicated track setup, I think I'd go with a lightweight 14 with uber-sticky tires. Most sticky 15s start at 205mm wide, and I rub quite a bit with 205s. My 195s are better, however, many r-compound tires don't come in a 195/55/15.
