A1electric + Viper Alarm Install
Perhaps someone can help me here. I have most of the other connections figured out but can't get the door lock/unlock to work. I installed the power locks a little while ago and those work fine. When I try to hook the alarm up to them, I keep blowing the fuse on the violet wire of the alarm. Here's what I have:
black/white - not connected white/black - ground brown/black - ground violet - 12v constant blue/black - red on A1 kit green/black - blue on A1 kit I tested the wires with my multimeter and these should be correct. Am I missing something?

What Viper model is it? The only manual that I have handy is for the 5901, which doesn't match your wire colors.

OK. So, if you wired it up per diagram D, are you driving the lock solenoids directly, or are you driving the A1 relay module, which in turn is driving the solenoids?

I tried connecting it directly to the relay and at the extra white 2-pin connector that splits off the relay, which I ran to the back hatch lock. So I guess I'm trying to drive them all at the relay more or less.
Should I try it at the actuator itself? And am I using the correct wires on the power lock kit (blue and red)? |

Couldn't find a schematic online anywhere. But just found an extra page that was hiding in the box for the power lock kit:
Step 1 Strip back the heavy black jacket from a couple of inches of wiring near the door lock module. There are 2 jacketed wire looms coming out of the module. Either one can be used. Using a standard automotive test light, probe the brown wire in the loom. The doors should either lock or unlock. Write down results for later. The purple wire should make the locks work in the opposite direction. If you do not have a test light, you can use a grounded test lead or wire instead. Step 2 On most keyless entry and alarm systems there should be a small 2 or 3 wire plug on the side of the module with a blue and green wire (some also have a red wire). Connect the green wire to the wire you marked as lock in step 1. This should be either purple or brown wire. Connect the blue wire to the wire you marked as unlock in step 1. If all other wiring for your alarm or keyless entry is complete, the door locks should now operate with the remote control. Looks like its a negative lock system, so the MES relay was overpowering the alarm. Looks like I should be using diagram B instead. |

If I remember correctly, from when I helped someone install one of the A1 systems, it is a negative lock system.
