If anything, LEDs are frequently not bright enough.

You are kidding right? Mercs and Audis use LED for brake lights so they are not bright enough? Many lights are also run by LED like signals in other brands. It depends on the type of LED, if you get the cheap ones like 30 LEDs in a bulb they are crap, get SMD and ones that are high wattage you will have no problem, not only brighter but less heat. If they can use it on the outside of the car, i dont see why they are not bright enough to be used inside the car.

In fact i just changed my dome light 2 weeks ago, it was a cheap one with 6 LEDs, even that was brighter than the stock incandescent.

Here is what i use for my brake lights, they are 90% brighter than stock and it makes the driver behind go red every time i brake. Best lights ever. Look at the difference on how it looks between this and the regular LED you might be thinking of. http://www.ebay.ca/itm/221073381502?...84.m1497.l2649

LED map lites

The newest LED lites are equal to or brighter than the incandescent bulbs.
But they cost a lot more. I can buy ten or more replacement bulbs for the price of one LED. The LED may last more than ten times as long...but are you going to leave the lite on all the time to justify the much higher price?

I don't understand what you mean the newest LED, there is no such thing. Of course LEDs are brighter, and they don't cost a lot more. Please look on ebay for products from China, USA retailers make a high mark-up on those exactly same bulbs. We are talking about LED for cars, not home use E27 bulbs.

My brake lights and map lights are BOTH cheaper than the factory incandescent bulbs @ my dealership.

Can you give me an example(links) of how you can buy ten or more replacement in bulbs for the price of one LED? Please stay on the topic - map lights. The socket size is T10 (194).

It just seems to me that some people here have no knowledge about LEDs...

I am simply asking if 2W is enough for map lights, only those of you who have installed LED map lights or related knowledge should reply, I don't want anything that may cause off-topic endless discussion.

LEDs

I got mine from superbrightleds.com. I prefer mine brighter anyways, not into the whole dull yellow look.
