No sound on RF or RR in 2010 Yaris, 4 door

Hi all,

Thank you so much for the stickied guides. My son bought a used 2010 Yaris 4 door with the single disc player and the 3 temp controls in a triangle pattern.

The right speakers have never worked. Front (RF) or back (RR). No matter what input I use on the radio. No matter how I adjust the fader or balance.

I used the guides here and took out the radio and started testing manually. I removed the harnesses and found the connector locations for the 4 speakers. Using a home stereo output speaker wire, I can drive the left speakers to sound. But the right speakers, front and back, ... no sound at the harness.

So, I believe I've isolated the issue to not be the stereo itself (it is stock but has "refurb" tape on it?) but that the issue is somewhere from the harness to the speakers.

Which seems insane as the RF and RR are on separate harness connectors and shouldn't have any common connectors back to the speakers? Also, the controls on the right doors work fine. (Windows, locks, etc)

I mean, I can see how just the right front or just the right rear would get disconnected or cut. But both?

Before I tear off the door panel and start checking continuity at the speakers, does anyone have a clue or suggestions or a preferred guide for this? Is there some secret fuse or junction I should be looking at?

TIA.

Hello, since both right speakers are not working, inspect the wiring harness for any visible damage, corrosion, or loose connections. Sometimes, wires can be pinched or disconnected in the door or at the connector.
