I'm sorry. That has to suck. My car did that once while I was working on it, but I knew it was going to happen, just didn't expect it when it did, and the car stopped on a rock... about 2 inches from my foot. Nothing as serious as having 4 grand in damage. Really sorry to hear about that. Glad it didn't make it into traffic though, or hit someone elses car. Could have been a LOT worse. Good luck with the fix though. You going to try to get after market parts in place? I would. Ask and se if it's possible. Can't hurt.
