if you're having running problems you can check the tension and slack in the chain by removing the cover, setting to TDC and marking the pulley. move engine backwards and see how far the pulley moves until the cam moves. any more than about 6-8* and i'd have a problem with it.

but then again, it depends on how bad car's running, cost of chain, and how long it's gonna take me to change it.
