So, I took it easy on the break-in, now at 15,000. Does that mean I'm F'd as far as getting as long a life out of my engine as was possible with a hard break-in? Is there anything to compensate for an easy break-in, short of re-boring the cyls and getting new rings?

Trust me, it will still go the long haul. I would only take this hard break in theory with a grain of salt. Remember, the guys that designed the engine
recommend the traditional soft break in.

In the end though, today's cars are built to such a tolerance that even not following any type of break in procedure shouldn't effect the longevity of your car. Essentially, they're already "broken in" from the factory.

In my first month of owning my Yaris, I put 10,000km. However, It didn't get a traditional brake-in...no time for that.

At around 30000km I started to use mobel-1 oil. Once I started using the mobel-1 oil, I increase oil change interval to every 10,000km.

It was well after 50,000km that the car seemed to be getting quicker. That 1.5L in the Yaris is an amazing engine, however I'm little concerned about the electroincs and our harsh Canadian winters. Currently, there seems to be a big issue with the Yaris's ABS for Canadian owners. Also, since I worked the clutch/shifter alot, the shifter started to get sticky and had trouble going into gear. But then I had the dealership change the oil. They most have used some very slick stuff, cause after the tansmission flush, The clutch would slip while in gear (the rev's would increase but not the speed), but after several hundred kilometer, it went away... I guess the transmission needed some time to get used to the new oil. After spending $750 to get the ABS fixed, with no garanty that other sensors won't fail at a later date, I was quick to trade in the Yaris for the RAV4. The Toytoa dealership gave me $7500 for my Yaris, which wasn't bad since the 150,000km on the odometer.

I guess i'm on tangent...anyways. Great top speed run.

Your car won't last long at all. You'd better sell it quick. I'll give you $100 cash.
