if its the abs activating why does it sounds like a metal scraping ? really loud metal scraping. some cars have no sound at all , or just a "bip" sound. |

That's how it sounds when the brakes are very rapidly being applied and released by the computer controller. The frequency of the brake pressure pulsation is what makes that disagreeable juddering sound. I've not heard any that were silent or just made a "bip" sound when activated. Can't imagine how that would work. You won't hear this happening unless the road is slick enough for the wheels to start to lock when you brake hard. There is in many cars a barely noticeable little "bip" sound when the ABS system self-tests as you first start rolling after startup.
