Somebody needs to look in a Toyota parts catalog to see what's different. They might share common rods and have pistons with different compression heights. Cams might be the same or not. Note that the 1NZ-FXE engine in Priuses is basically the same as the 1NZ-FE with an even higher mechanical compression ratio around 13:1, also.

Also different cams, to give it the Atkinson cycle.
